Controlled processes

A production company relies on the usage of ERP systems to plan and control their production processes. Quite often is the assumption that by using the manufacturing lead time for the planing of e.g. start of production or the date of delivery, one will receive suitable dates. But experience shows that most of the ERP systems are not really capable to depict the reality of the ever changing conditions of the production process and the surrounding of it.

So standard ERP systems can not respond to disturbances during the production process - once the order for production is released the according dates are fixed and will not be changed even if there are already known, or foreseeable, deviations between the reality and the plan. The ERP system is not capable to counterbalance disruptions and really steer the flow of the processes. It can display them but not control them.

The Control component developed by the Thuringia based company Berghof Systeme e.K. fills that gap. The adaptive controller software is integrated into the ERP system and automatically takes steps to iron out faults within the production process to adapt the plan to the reality. During the ongoing production, continuously and automaticly. The use of the adaptive controller add-on leads to well-balanced production processes, shorter pass-through times, higher process speed, optimized stocks and it helps to keep the date of delivery. All this leads to a better financial situation of the company.
